Cheshire Peat Stack

Posted at 3:26 pm under Uncategorized

I meant to add this picture when I posted last weekend about our peat cutting trip, but I forgot

Over Easter we went back to Cheshire for N to spend time with his Dad.  My neighbours were obviously keen to make me feel at home, and to remind me of the Hebrides.  They kindly put up a peat stack on the “moor” (or garden!) just for me

How kind!

Nice one! Just as well you’re not Welsh or they might have had a pile of coal out for you. Or a pit pony. :-)

It looks so small and lonely amongst all those big houses :)

Is that dug up turf? I’m impressed!

Yes, it’s dug up turf…..think they are actually making a flower bed but it made me think of peat stacks up here

What a great name for a boy, Pete Stacks.

I hope they plant bright flowers in that bed!

Once upon a time, Rusty, and maybe still, there was a band in Shetland called Pete Stack and The Rayburns.

I have googled and it says they were a blues band. Must see if I can find a way to hear them.
